The three functions of marriage as described in the Lenkeit text, involves three features in most of the societies which explains- 1) Marriage includes the sexual relationship between the partners who are the ideal couple, 2) Marriage includes economic interdependency which includes the property and labor, 3) marriage also contribute to legitimizing the offspring of the couples within the group and also includes the child-rearing responsibilities which are expected to be handled by the couples. While discussing the topic with the view of contemporary marriages in the United States, it can be said that all these features are focused even today. Every culture provides marriage to be a direction to sexual behavior or relationship between the partners which is considered to be quite common.
